About

The Texana Review is an attempt to bring interesting and informative entertainment to anyone who is curious about Texas, whether it be its history, its culture, its people, or its business.

It’s been said more than once that Texas has a mystique unlike any other of the United States, or sovereign nation, for that matter.  All one has to do is to spend a little time in Texas and the experience will forever be remembered.  Many people stay.

The primary motivation behind The Texana Review is to collect a compendium of Texana of all sorts where people might visit and learn a little about Texas.  Most, but not all, of the material to be found here is in the form of what the New Media called podcasts – audio files that you can listen to on your computer or download to a device that you can carry around with you and listen when and where you choose.

As for me?

My appreciation for the spoken word probably began with my mother reading to me as a child.  She read with an emphasis and special intonation that I’ve come to recognize as the gift of a storyteller.  Her reading triggered my imagination.

Then my father taught me how to build a crystal radio and, while huddled near the window to get better reception from the thin wire antennae, I’d listen to the storytellers.  They were mostly old shows.  Orson Welles was a favorite as was Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce and the stories on the Suspense Theater.

“Use your voice,” someone said to me again.

I listened this time and created The Texana Review, which I offer to you for your enjoyment.

Drop by often, and learn a little about Texas!
